JAY B. COHEN, CPA/ABV/CFF/CGMA, CVA, CFFA - A graduate from the University of Denver (BSA 1977), in accounting, he has never ceased his dedication to continuing education. As a result, he holds the following professional designations: Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA), Accredited in Business Valuation (ABB), Certified Forensic Financial Analyst (CFFA), Certified in Financial Forensics (CFF) and Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA).
Jay is also a member in good standing with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), Colorado Society of Certified Public Accountants (CSCPA) and National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts (NACVA). He also has been designated in 5280 magizine as a five star member in business planning, for the years 2010 and 2012.
While Jay enjoys working in the traditional accounting and tax areas, he has expertise in the areas of business valuation, management consulting, calculation of damages, forensic accounting and providing expert testimony.
Jay enjoys golf and photography, traveling and is involved in various community activities.
JEFFREY COHEN, CPA/ABV/CFF/CGMA, CVA, CFFA - A graduate from the University of Denver (BSA 1977), in accounting, he has never ceased his dedication to continuing education. ISAAC K KOLL, CPA,FLMI - A graduate of Roosevelt University (BSBA, 1960) in finance and accounting. He has worked for the Internal Revenue Service for 35 years. Isaac at his retirement from the IRS was an Appeals Officer. After leaving the IRS he operated his own accounting practice and became a partner in the firm Raizen, Brenner and Koll. Isaac is a CPA in the State of Colorado and the State of Maryland. His expertise is working with clients who have problems with the taxing authorities. His vast experience allows him to resolve issues quickly, creatively and in a fair and judicious manner.
Isaac is also a member in good standing with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Colorado Society of Certified Public Accountants (CSCPA).
Isaac is a professional Cantor, for over 50 years. He is a regional Vice-President of Cantorial Council of America. He also enjoys spending time with his wife, children and grand-children. He has four rules to life: Love your family, Be Nice, Help Others and Never Quit.
ELIOTT H GIDAN, CPA - Eliott is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati (BBA 1982) in accounting. He then worked for Arthur Anderson before he started his own practice in Denver. His area of expertise is working with small business, providing bookeeping, payroll and tax planning and preparation services.
When Eliott is not practicing accounting he enjoys traveling and golf.
HEATHER L BARRON MACC, (CPA Applicant) - A graduate of University of Colorado (BS in Journalism) and a Master of Accountancy (Certificate of Taxation) from Colorado State University. She is also an alumna of Beta Alpha Psi, the international accounting organization.
Heather is a world traveler. She has lived in Okinawa, Japan and various cities in Germany. She also loves soccer and is a member of the Metro Denver Women’s Soccer Club. She enjoys riding her motorcycle and snowboarding in the Rocky Mountains.
In 1980, Jeffrey and Jay Cohen initiated the formation of the firm known as Ginsburg, Cohen and Company, PC. During the summer of 1981, Joseph Ginsburg (who was practicing accounting since the early 1930's) merged his practice into the present day Ginsburg, Cohen and Company, PC. Isaac Koll of the firm Raizen, Brenner & Koll LLC (RBK) has its roots from the late 1940's, serving the Denver area. Eliott Gidan started his practice in the late 1980's. To continue the tradition, Jeffrey, Jay, Isaac and Eliott in January of 2013 have formed the new firm of KGC-Koll Gidan Cohen and Company PC. As a result, the firm has clients that have been continually served for over 80 years.
As the firm has grown and evolved, the core philosphy has always been maintained -- to regard our clients as part of our extended family. As our client needs changed, we have changed with them. At our roots, we were and are a traditional auditing, accounting and tax practice. Over time, as the needs of our clients changed, the firm has grown to include specialized services in the areas of tax and estate planning, business valuation, calculation of damages (business and personal), forensic accounting/auditing and providing expert testimony when the need arises.
CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANT (CPA) - As a CPA, we are bound by our code of ethics to be independent, have a complete understanding of our clients industy and how they operate their business. It makes no difference whether we are preparing a non-disclosure Compilation financial statement, a full disclosure Reveiw financial statement or an Audited financial statement, KGC - Koll, Gidan, Cohen and Company PC prides ourselves in giving our client a professional document. Although the continuing education requirement, established by law each year is 40 hours (for each professional staff), we as a firm have always exceeded this requirement . In this way, we make sure we are on the cutting edge of our profession, so our clients receive the best we have to offer.
ACCREDITED IN BUSINESS VALUATION (ABV) AND CERTIFIED VALUATION ANALYST (CVA) - These credentials allows us to show our clients and the public we have the ability to calculate a value for a business. By taking extensive course work in the area of business valuation, preparing a case study and taking a rigorous exam, membetrs of the firm have qualifed to hold themselves out to be experts in the area of business valuation. The ABV is a credential awarded by the AICPA and the CVA is a credential awarded by the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts.
CERTIFIED IN FINANCIAL FORENSICS (CFF) AND CERTIFIED FORENSIC FINANCIAL ANALYST (CFFA) - As accountants and auditors we are asked many times to help a client in determining if they have been damaged. Whether it is for a business loss (fire, flood, an act of someone else causing the business to sustain a loss of revenue thru fraud or an act, or any other type of business interruption) or a personal loss (lost wages), we have the ability to help that client with calculation of their damages.
CHARTERED GLOBAL MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTANT (CGMA) - As we provide accounting/auditng/tax services to our clients, the firm has gained experience in helping businesses with growth, planning, financial analysis and budgeting. There is a designation thru the AICPA for individuals who have experience in the area of management accounting. The Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) designation recognizes those CPA's has thru experience and education who eveloped skills to demonstrate their ability in business acumen, ethics and commitment. Our firm has met these criteria and have CPA's who hold this designation.
